Drought Responses
Climate variability, e.g., drought events, will tend to reduce crop productivity. Unfortunately, adaptation measures can result in yield penalty. Trade-offs need to be understood and quantified in order to implement crop production systems with increased resilience to drought and stable yields in the future. In Hohenheim, crop responses in terms of escape, avoidance and tolerance strategies are explored on single plant and plant community level and new genotypes and breeding schemes are developed.
